DG Dave and 1VDG Deb Crawford delivered a check for $6000 to the Ebeid Children's Oncology/Hematology Unit of the ProMedica Hospital in Toledo, Ohio on Friday, September 24th.  The donation, the result of a Community Impact Grant from the Lions Clubs International Foundation, will be used to purchase 55" TV screens for the six infusion rooms on the oncology floor.  Ebeid deals with around 75 pediatric cancer patients annually, many of which are dealing with prolonged stays to assure recovery from sickle cell anemia issues.  Chemotherapy often also requires extended treatments.  Community Impact Grants are one way donations going out of our district are returned in part to us.  OH1 has been an excellent supporter of LCIF which has donated over $2 Billion to disaster relief and other charitable causes since 1968.

District Governor Dave Stockum extends a warm welcome to our website. By clicking links in the menus and below you will find out more about who we are and what we are about. We are made up of Lions Clubs (and member Lions) in the following Ohio Counties: Allen, Auglaize, Defiance, Fulton, Hancock, Hardin, Henry, Logan, Lucas, Mercer, Paulding, Putnam, Shelby, Van Wert, Williams, and Wood.

We proudly live the Motto of Lions, We Serve. With Over 1.4 million Lions members in more than 48,000 clubs, in over 200 countries and geographic areas, We Serve to answer the needs that challenge the communities of the world. Lions tackle tough problems like blindness, drug abuse, childhood cancer, natural disasters and diabetes awareness. Lions are Leaders in our communities. Lions improve the quality of life in their local communities by building parks, supporting hospitals and emergency services, and improving the environment. Vision, diabetes, childhood cancer, hunger, and environment are the five areas upon which the International Association focuses, but our sub-motto, “Where there is a need, there is a Lion,” tells us we can lend a hand wherever our community needs us.

Lions Clubs International defines our mission as: To empower Lions clubs, volunteers and partners to improve health and well-being, strengthen communities, and support those in need through humanitarian services and grants that impact lives globally, and encourage peace and international understanding. What fine words! As you can see from the pictures surrounding this welcome, we are seeking not only understanding and effort, but also are appealing to the good humor of our members. Let’s do our best together to make this a better world and have a good time in the process. As PID Dan Cole from Marietta, Ohio, often said, “It’s great to be a Lion!” God bless his soul, and every one of us.
